6/12/17 The Fight for Pihanga
Long ago, there was 2 mountains. They were named Tongariro and Taranaki. You might not know Tongariro and Taranaki, but they fought. They fought over the 3rd mountain, Pihanga. Pihanga was the only female that lived there. Both mountains wanted to marry Pihanga, since she was the only female. Tongariro and Taranaki fought hard. Both mountains weakened as they fought for Pihanga. They had fought so hard, that Tongariro had lost it's head. It has been said that Tongariro broke it off on purpose to fling at Taranaki. Some others say Taranaki had sliced the head off with a big powerful blow. It fell into Lake Taupo.
Lava had also sprung out of the mountains as thunder boomed in the skies. Ashes splashed onto the grounds of grass. But finally. The fight was over. Taranaki had lost over Tongariro. Tongariro had got to marry Pihanga, the mountain with the glorious delicate nature surrounding the tops of it, but lastly it was graceful. Taranaki had shuddered down to the ground.
The land had changed after Taranaki had been defeated. He carved a river, known as the Wanganui river. He had cried, and cried after defeat. When he cried, his tears had filled the river up to the top. Wanganui river had been created, changing the landscape. Taranaki had found a female, Pouakai. Together, they had many children. Wind, rain, plants, people, rocks and rivers.
The end.
