Kia Ora Tara,
ReplyDeleteKa pai on having a go at filling in your Pepeha. I know that it can be tricky, particularly if you don't have any strong affiliations to the Māori culture. But the beautiful thing about a Pepeha is that you can continue to build on it the more you grow up, because we're constantly learning new things about ourselves— I really respect that about the culture.
Am I right in saying, from what I can understand, that your father is Tongan? That's pretty awesome! What a great combination of cultures! Have you ever been to Tonga, or would you like to go? What would you want to find out if you went?
My mother is Māori, and I know a bit of history about that side of my whanau, but I would love to find out more about my father’s side of the whanau. They hail from Edinburgh in Scotland. From what I have learnt, we were once Knights of the Gentry. How cool is that? It seems strange to think about the post-medieval world now while we’re sitting here on our computers and blogging with one another.
On a completely different note, I’m curious; do you not want to do the bonus activities? They’re worth a lot of points! It’s completely okay, as you can move through the material in whatever order you like, but please let me know if you need help with anything Tara. It’s why I’m here! ☺
Cheers,
Jordan
